West Branch Classic - 05/30/2009
Saturday May 30th, 2009 - West Branch Classic
The unstoppable Hagerty Masters Team strike again at the West Branch Classic. These guys are kicking butt all over Michigan and this past weekend's race in West Branch was no exception.
According to reports from the peloton, the Hagerty Masters went big from the start of the race launching repeated attacks until one of the break aways held. This one just happened to include Dan Hofstra who used his superior climbing abilities to stick it to the rest of the guys in the uphill finish. Congrats Dan!
Other strong Hagerty Finishes come from the Women's Category 1-3. Nice work to all of the Hagerty girls who attacked their rival teams on the road even though they where outnumbered reducing the amount of competition and securing some great results.
Susan Vigland was 3rd followed closely by Johanna Schmidt (4th) and Lauri Brockmiller (6th)
Also bringing home some hardware was Ty Schmidt who played his cards right and got away in a break on the first lap of the Cat 3 race. Ty's breakaway stayed away until the finish of the race and was able to nab a 4th place finish. Nice work Ty!
This was a first time race in Michigan and the course was super hilly and exposed to some windy sections. Thanks to all team members who participated and displayed the Blue and White at this fun new event, and thanks to the good folks at Main Street cycle for being such gracious hosts!
