Barry-Roubaix | Spring Fling | Fisk Knob - 03/28/2009

Barry-Roubaix March 28, 2009:

The first Michigan race for some of our Hagerty riders was the Barry-Roubaix. This was a 31/62 mile race on dirt, gravel, and paved roads which had people riding road, mountain and cyclocross bikes. It was a chilly morning but the sun showed it's face and the day turned into a great racing day.

In our Men's Pro/Elite 62 Mile division we saw Craig Webb finish in the top 10. Craig chose to race on his mountain bike (the only guy in his class to do so) and kept the pace high.

For our Women's Pro/Elite 62 Mile division, Laura Webb took an impressive 2nd place! She also chose to ride a mountain bike against all cyclocross riders. Way to go Laura!

In the Sport/Expert Men's 30-39 Class, Tim Barrons rode his "Franken-Bike" cyclocross and had an 8th place finish. Nice job Tim.

Tim Jenema and Jason Whittaker also raced and had respective finishes.

In the Sport/Expert Women 19-34 Class, Arianne Peterson, on a men's borrowed cyclocross bike that she had never been on, placed 3rd! Nice job!

In the Sport/Expert Women 35+ Class, Danielle Rearick, riding a mountain bike, placed 5th respectively. Amy Jenema, also on a mountain bike, placed in the top 10 as well. Nice job girls.

After the race, the racers enjoyed a nice cold IPA and warm cup of chili. Shouldn't every race end this way?

The Same Day-Different Race:

Michele and Scott Howard represented the Hagerty Team at the Waterford Hills Spring Training Series. This was a 50 minute crit plus two laps. The results weren't conclusive but we think Scott finished somewhere in the top ten. If this is correct-way to go Scott.

Michele was one of only 3 girls that were thrown in with the guys B group. Michele held her own and took second for the girls. You rock!

Thanks for reprezent'in.

Fisk Knob March 29, 2009:

The day of the Fisk Knob event turned out to be a miserable weather day but still had a great showing of racers ready to show what they could do.

On the men's side our racers  included Tim Barrons, Tim Jenema, Joel Gaff, and Jason Whittaker. The women's team was represented by Danielle Rearick and Amy Jenema on a tandem. Misery lovers company! Unfortunately, there was no beer to warm the heart but it was a fun race despite the weather.
