The team is sponsoring the inaugural Asparagus Race on Saturday, May 19th in Empire, Michigan. This event was created as a practice race for our team and other local riders who would like the opportunity to do a "warm up" race in a safe, fun atmosphere. The course is a one kilometer criterium loop, offering riders the opportunity to practice cornering, speed skills, and pack riding. This is a practice race so it’s free, however a USA Cycling license is required to participate. Race day licenses will be available at registration or you may purchase a license online at www.usacycling.org.
Registration will be held at Gemma's Coffee located on M-22 just north of M-72. Directions: Take M-72 to the stop sign in Empire. Turn right onto M-22 and go 200 yards. Gemma's is on the left and parking is available on the right at the Village Inn Pizza shop.
The women's race will be at 8:30 and will last 30 minutes plus 3 laps. The men's race starts at 9:30 and will last one hour plus 3 laps.
We are still in need of volunteers to help setup and close down. If you would like to volunteer please contact Derek Prechtl at dprechtl@hagerty.com to sign up.
